UNECE group for inland waterway transport

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is one of the five regional UN commissions where 56 countries, of the Western, Central and the Eastern Europe, Central Asia and North America, jointly formulate guidance on economic cooperation.The Commission provides a regional framework for harmonization of conventions, norms and standards in the following areas: sustainable energy, environmental policy, gender, population, statistics, trade and transport, millennium development goals.

Within the UNECE there are Sectorial Committees. The Inland Transport Committee is one of the largest and most effective committee within the Commission. Serbia's is representative by Mr. Ljubiša Mihajlović, Director of the Directorate for Inland Waterways Plovput.
