Students from the Faculty of Transport, Water Traffic Module, visited the Directorate for Inland Waterways on November 04th, 2019. Students had the opportunity to visit the RIS center of the Directorate for Inland waterways, from which the coordination and control of river information services in Serbia is conducted. On this occasion, Mr. Mitrovic, Head of the International Project Management and River Information Services, gave a presentation on the ongoing activities of the Directorate for Maintenance of Waterways in the Republic of Serbia and improvement of their conditions, with reference to technical solutions for improving navigation conditions in critical sectors on the Danube River in Serbia. The importance of electronic and paper navigation charts was stated as well as the status of waterway marking system, both relevant for River Units. The study visit was assessed by students as an outstanding contribution to their current knowledge on navigation on the territory of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the technological and professional progress that has been achieved in this field. One of the main goals of teaching visits like this one for students, is to exchange and provide information on activities related to the work of the Directorate. Therefore, the comprehensibility of the information for all participants and the quality of the information presented must be at an adequate level to contribute to the purpose of the visit. The form and coherence of the information provided as well as the work of the Directorate were evaluated with the highest rating. This kind of teaching visit implies an open exchange of views and views, so the freedom to participate actively during the meeting is of the utmost importance. The Directorate for Inland Waterways has been organizing for years educational visits like this one for students of different schools and faculties in Serbia, and it will continue to promote these activities.
